Bequest Language
A bequest is simple and convenient. You have a number of options.
You can make a bequest for a specific dollar amount or for a percentage of your estate. Many individuals establish endowments to honor the memory of a family member or another loved one. These endowments live forever, because only the income and a modest portion of appreciation are used annually.
Because a will is an important legal document, we encourage you to seek assistance from your own professional legal advisor.
To assist you with this important process, we offer suggested bequest wording to emphasize the importance of your including any specific designation. Also, please note that any bequest intended for our Foundation should be clearly designated for Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation.
Summary of the purposes and forms of a bequest:
Unrestricted: The most flexible type of bequest, allowing the funds to be allocated by Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation wherever the need is greatest.
Restricted: You may designate your bequest to support a special program or purpose that reflects your personal or professional interest.
Specific bequests are used to make a gift of a specific dollar amount or specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or personal property.
Residuary bequests are used to give all or a portion of the rest, residue, and remainder of your estate after payment of expenses and any specific amounts designated to other beneficiaries.
Each individual situation is unique and, therefore, the following examples include only some of the possible gift opportunities you may want to review with your personal advisor(s). Also, we encourage you to contact the Foundation about your intention to include in a bequest items of real or personal property other than publicly traded securities so that we may determine if there may be concerns about our ability to handle such a gift.
